There were lots of participants and activities happening along with the 2018 Lookingglass Clean-up Day and Parade. The Grange was open to provide for a Petting Zoo, face-painting by Community Church members, plants and food for sale, and barbecue food prepared by volunteers from the Lookingglass Volunteer Fire Department.
Start of Parade
Fire District Vehicles: Lookingglass and Tenmile
Construction and Towing Trucks: Colwell Construction, Joe’s Towing, and Todd Construction
Classic Cars and Off-Road Vehicles, including Search and Rescue
The Lookingglass Parade will start at noon on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The weather is expected to be warm and sunny! Bring the entire family for an enjoyable day. Please show your community pride: help with the Lookingglass Parade and Cleanup Day by picking up and properly disposing of trash along the roads of our community.
We are pleased to announce that we have signed the world famous Douglas High School Jazz Band, a 16 piece ensemble, recently returned from state invitational concerts, to provide entertainment on the main events stage after the Lookingglass Parade. Under the direction of Hannah Abercrombie, this is a great group of musicians; a real treat for our Community. In the band will be baritone saxophonist Kevin Nelson, Lookingglass Explorer/Volunteer Firefighter. Approximately 1:15 pm start time, Saturday May 5th.
Food will be available for purchase, prepared by the Lookingglass Volunteer Firefighters Association. Various farm animals will be available for viewing and petting starting about 11:00 am. Some of the Lookingglass Farm Market vendors will have food products and plants for sale.
Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 7:00 pm there will be a meeting at the Grange Hall to discuss issues for a Neighborhood Watch in Lookingglass. A representative from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be present.
Spring days still can get chilly. Never fear, the Grange Hall now has a new heater! Thanks to the efforts of Scott, Allan, Steve, and Jerry, the basement was cleaned and the old oil furnace was removed to make way for the new electric furnace.
The Lookingglass Grange will be having a Work Party on April 12, 2015 at 1pm. Volunteers are needed to help clean floors, kitchen, and outdoor grounds, as well as clearing out old items from the basement and children’s room.
If you are ready to spring into action by planting some sprouts, Toni has a selection of pea starts for you. Come to the Lookingglass Farm Market on Friday between 3 and 6 pm to find pea starts and other great products.
